The day of the eclipse is a perfect articulation of what this great event means to our country, and many of its aspects will apply to your personal life as well.
The Five of Clubs, as literally the SUN Card for August 21st, represents a crossroads: it brings about a sense of dissatisfaction and restlessness which is the ground seed for change.
With great American eclipse happening tomorrow, this Five of Clubs is particularly interesting for the US. Our country is about to wake up to the reality of what does not align with our own personal values.
Each card has an entire hand, each card ruled by a planet. I will go through each one to show how this eclipse will shift each aspect of our lives.
Moon Card: Ten of Spades. Our comfort zone will be to put our shoulder to the wheel. A karmic aspect of this card of ultimate success is
O.J., a beloved athlete who had risen to fame and stardom despite racial obstacles, and other such fallen celebrities, call us to reexamine our deeply held biases. How could such a great guy have committed this heinous crime?
By now, most of us have no doubt he did it. This in itself points to an evolution of national consciousness. But at the time of the trial, people wanted to know the truth of what happened. The national news services responded by showing us non-stop coverage of the full trial. After all, we had gotten used to this concept through MTV’s The Real World which had started just a few years before.
We had also gotten used to the idea of cover-ups, corruption behind the veil, and the sordid truth about the private lives of celebrities. (Why don't Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt bathe? Am I right?) Add this to the idea that we could actually know what happened and you have the perfect mixture for real life drama.
Now to the actual trial and the people involved…
How do I know when it's time to quit my job? I'm a successful VP with opportunities for growth ahead of me. My bank account is full but I feel empty inside. Everyone around me assumes I'm having an amazing time because I can buy whatever I want. Everything except my happiness. I dream about quitting my job and just taking some time for myself. Is that selfish?
Thanks for your guidance.

You have a responsibility to be 'selfish’. In card terms, your Saturn card is the Ace Hearts. Your long-term developmental task is to become more attentive to your inner child, to become self aware, to become more 'self-ish'.
Your personality blueprint as the Six of Diamonds involves the desire to be fair to everyone, to see others' perspectives, and possibly to care-take their feelings. I am glad you are in touch with your desire to quit.
You have several Fives and Sixes in your yearly spread this year. Fives indicate the desire for change and Sixes indicate destiny. So this change you feel like you want to make is coming at a time when you are aligning with your destiny.
Keep in mind, change is a process. Allow this to take some time. One reason this is difficult is that your old programming is putting the needs of others ahead of your own. Actually,
I have been struggling with letting go of a very toxic, controlling relationship in my life and need some guidance. My ex-husband (he of toxic and controlling fame from the sentence above) continues to verbally abuse me when he gets angry, which is often. To make matters worse, his verbal abuse often-times occurs in front of our two children. He struggles with alcohol abuse and anger issues and it has only escalated since our divorce. I try to keep things calm, but I don't feel like I can bring up any issue for fear he will unleash on me.
If it weren't for the children, I would try to avoid contact with him at all costs. Since we share custody, I feel that isn't an option, at least for the time being. I know I shouldn't feel sad when he says horrible things to me, but I do. It makes me worry that my children will grow up and think that is an OK thing to happen in a romantic relationship. To complicate everything, deep down in my heart, I struggle to let go of the hope he will one day do the work to make a change. The Two of Clubs in me wants to fix this and make us a happy family again....the other part of me wants to know how to let that motherfucker go. Help?

You are having a battle between the cards on either side of you: your super sensitive Moon card, the Seven of Spades, and the powerful mind card, the King of Clubs. Mind vs heart. Does that ring a bell?
It is clear that you know your own truth, and this has been the purpose of your obviously karmic relationship. (Karma just means you had some important work to do. Check out our blog and video on Karma here.)
He is obviously a very important player in your game of life, so begin by giving thanks to his higher self for agreeing to help you get this work set up. Stop gagging and just do it.
Remember, he is just playing his role. And try to remember that this experience was chosen by both of you, and your children, from a place of higher awareness and loving intention.
Think of him like homeopathic medicine. He is a dose of the opposite of what you want, which gives you a chance to choose.
When he unleashes his abusive rants upon you, seal yourself in a bubble of light. We will get to the part about you being a bad-ass in a moment, but the hurt he causes you is one of the surgical tools you have to dive deep into the pain. Part of having a Seven in your Moon position is about feeling pain and being sensitive. So...
All Relationships are a Mirror
ALL RELATIONSHIPS are a MIRROR
I've been reflecting on this (puns!) and seeing that the most important role of a parent is to reflect the child back to him or herself with as little distortion as possible! Yeah, right. Unless you were raised by Jesus, you have a distorted sense of self. And relationships are what we seek out to get a better reflection: one that feels right.
So this is most of our childhoods: parent holds up a mirror which is dented; convex in places, concave in others, and filled with smudges which black out parts of our reflection.
We stand before it, getting not only a distorted sense of who we are, (e.g. you are too messy, too curious, too angry, too happy, etc) and try with all our might to make the reflection look whole and balanced. (I shall be neat all the time, content, never angry, and careful instead of happy, e.g.) Thus is born the
The Ever-Present Child
Have you ever been invited to do something and accepted, but felt an immediate dissonance with that decision?
Have you gotten teared up at a movie and felt a rush of emotion that you couldn't explain? Did you ever get 'irrationally' angry after that experience?
Have you made and kept an appointment with yourself to do something fun or relaxing like taking a walk, going out for coffee alone, or taking yourself to a movie, and felt completely blissed out before, during, but especially afterward?
Have you been with a friend who said something that rubbed you the wrong way, and you could not explain it, nor 'get over it'? Did you avoid
Your Inner Jack, Queen & King
Within each one of us is a variety of personas, or archetypes, that we step into depending on various circumstances in our lives. For example, a baby cries and the man becomes a mother. A female CEO calls a meeting to order and steps into her masculine side. We use our creativity and enter playful, childlike, artist territory.
The Destiny Card system can help us understand our inner man, woman, and child through the King, Queen, and Jack of the suit of our Birth Card. When we need to, we layer on these archetypes and we act from this space.
Each Royal Archetype has a distinct personality, as do the suits themselves so we’ve pointed those differences out in each report. Otherwise, here’s generally when we step into each archetype:

Past Lives Lived
Through close observation, we have seen that the cards on either side of our card in the spread below seem to have a close connection to us.
We tend to draw these people into our lives. We have so much to give to and learn from each other. Because they are next to us, we will likely have a close friend or sibling connection. And siblings squabble, do they not? They see things from almost the same vantage point but not exactly, and are comfortable enough to have differences.
The people who are the card just before or after ours have a set of lessons which feel like old hat or they are lessons we haven’t learned yet.
We have gone back and forth about which direction would be the past life, and which the future life. Our best guess is that there is a sense of
In every person's hand, they have a main card, or a Birth Card, which is ruled by the Sun and which represents the self. Each additional card in the hand sits in a 'planetary position’. In the Life Spread (see the photo), the card to the right of the Sun card is the Moon card. The card to the left is the Mercury card, and so on.
You can find out your Planetary Ruling Card
on your card's One-Stop-Shop page
One of these cards could be considered another 'self' card, and that is based on your astrological Sun sign. For example, if you are a Cancer, the Moon rules Cancer, therefore your Moon card would be your other card. We call this your Planetary Ruler. It is the second most powerful influence in your hand. If you are a Virgo or a Gemini, it is your Mercury card that becomes your Planetary ruler. Do you follow?
This is the main factor that accounts for the differences between two people of the same card, but

In the destiny cards system, Carrie Fisher (Ace of Clubs) and her mother, Debbie Reynolds (Seven of Spades) had the challenging planetary influences of Pluto and Saturn. They did have a little Venus and Jupiter (friendship and blessings), but no cozy Moon or Mercury which means that they didn't just hang out, cry on each other's shoulder, or communicate very well. But they did grow!
Saturn is friction, annoyance, triggers, and challenge. They probably spent a lot of time rubbing each other the wrong way. Like the time Carrie was in George Lucas’ office getting
