Debbie Reynolds & Carrie Fisher: Mother & Daughter in the Destiny Cards

​In the destiny cards system, Carrie Fisher (Ace of Clubs) and her mother, Debbie Reynolds (Seven of Spades) had the challenging planetary influences of Pluto and Saturn. They did have a little Venus and Jupiter (friendship and blessings), but no cozy Moon or Mercury which means that they didn't just hang out, cry on each other's shoulder, or communicate very well. But they did grow!

Saturn is friction, annoyance, triggers, and challenge. They probably spent a lot of time rubbing each other the wrong way. Like the time Carrie was in George Lucas’ office getting

ready to film Star Wars. The actors and crew (and Lucas, himself) were going to fly coach to save money. Debbie called Mr. Lucas’ office and complained to him about the coach seats. Carrie asked to speak to her mother, “Mom, I want to fly coach. Will you fuck off?!”

As an Ace of Clubs, Carrie was raw, authentic, curious, and unabashed. As a Seven of Spades, Debbie was meticulous, professional, disciplined; the essence of grace under pressure. From Debbie, Carrie learned strength. But she had to develop and honor her own style.

The Pluto aspect of their relationship meant they experienced intensity and transformation. It's no surprise that they were estranged for about a decade. But they had to overcome many powerful internal obstacles in order to be in a health relationship with each other.

Debbie was a stake in the ground that Carrie could hang onto, pivot around, push against, and even walk away from.

Our nickname we gave a Saturn/Pluto relationship is Destined Transformation. Though they danced in wide arcs around each other, they never completely lost one another. Debbie Reynold’s last words were “I miss her so much, I want to be with Carrie.” They had a karmic agreement to annoy, freak out, and stretch each other. But they loved each other.

​The only way they could have ended up on good terms, which they did, was for each of them to have done their own inner work. Good job, you two, and we will miss you dearly. Thank you for setting such powerful examples of growth, love and self expression.
